People with compromised immune systems are especially vulnerable to contracting the flu and can experience the most severe effects. Working people are vulnerable, in addition, to economic effects of contracting the flu — many people do not have paid sick leave, or access to care or doctor’s notes to excuse one from work and guarantee a job.

In response to this intersectional crisis, five community organizations have collaborated to offer the free flu shot clinic:

▪️DSA Fort Worth is an activist local committed to the idea that working people should run both the economy and society democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few.

▪️El Voto es Latino is a nonprofit committee promoting the improvement of campaign engagement with the Latino community to take an active part in influencing government affairs through political action.

▪️RAICES is a nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families and refugees.

▪️Re+Birth Equity Alliance is a nonprofit organization committed to building bridges in the interest of achieving birth justice for marginalized communities across the state of Texas.

▪️United Fort Worth is a nonpartisan coalition that unifies people of many backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures and neighborhoods to address local issues.
